Raipur: Chhattisgarh is set to harness space technology for key sectors with support from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan in New Delhi on Friday to discuss the use of space-based solutions in agriculture, water resource management, environmental conservation, and disaster mitigation.
The discussions focused on utilizing satellite-based surveys, geo-mapping, and data analytics to enhance governance and economic development.
Chief Minister Sai highlighted the transformative role of space technology in improving agricultural productivity, resource management, and disaster preparedness. He emphasized that ISRO’s expertise would help farmers access precise data, optimize water use, and drive overall progress in the state.
As part of the initiative, ISRO will send a team of experts to Chhattisgarh for a detailed study using satellite imagery and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Their focus will include soil health assessment, water resource mapping, and early warning systems for floods and droughts.
