Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation Results 2026: Mahayuti Inches Towards Majority Mark As BJP–Sena Lead
Of the 115 total seats, the BJP is leading in 15 seats, followed by the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena with 12 seats. The AIMIM is ahead in eight seats, while the Shiv Sena (UBT) leads in six seats. The Congress is leading in three seats, the Ajit Pawar-led NCP in two, the Sharad Pawar faction of the NCP in one seat, and other candidates in one seat.

Vote counting is underway in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad) for the long-delayed Municipal Corporation elections, held after polling concluded yesterday with an impressive 59.82% voter turnout, the highest among all major civic bodies in Maharashtra.
BJP Opens Winning Account
The BJP continued its strong performance in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation elections, winning all four seats in Ward No. 10 with victories by Surekha Sanap, Archana Chaudhary, Ganesh Navandar and Shivaji Dandage. The party also registered a clean sweep in Ward No. 11, where Madhuri Advant, Vishwanath Swami, Meena Kharat and Mayur Vanjari emerged victorious.
Political Heirs Gain Ground
In the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation elections, Siddhant Shirsat, son of Guardian Minister Sanjay Shirsat, has won from Ward No. 29. His daughter Harshada Shirsat also secured a victory from Ward No. 18, marking wins for both of the minister’s children in the civic polls.
Shiv Sena candidate Harshada Shirsat, daughter of Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) Guardian Minister Sanjay Shirsat, has won from Ward No. 18 (D) in the municipal corporation elections. Reacting to her victory, Harshada Shirsat said the win belongs to party workers and added that she intends to focus on issues related to women and youth in the city.

Multi-Vote System in Place
Aurangabad follows a multi-vote system, allowing electors to vote for a panel of three to four candidates, depending on their ward. As per current trends, the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Congress are leading in four seats each under this system.
In the 2017 elections to the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad) Municipal Corporation, all 115 seats were contested. The Shiv Sena (SS) emerged as the single largest party with 29 seats, followed by the AIMIM with 25 seats. The BJP won 22 seats, while Independents and other parties secured 13 seats. The Congress won eight seats, the NCP four, and both the BSP and Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh claimed two seats each.
Earlier in the day, a huge commotion erupted at the counting center at the Government Engineering College in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. An argument broke out between police and workers over allowing a candidate's representative to enter the polling station. The argument escalated to the point where police resorted to lathi-charging the candidate's representative. Shiv Sena worker Vikas Jain was beaten up.
Meanwhile, Regarding the violence at the counting centre in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Police Commissioner Pravin Pawar said, "Counting is taking place here today, some incident has happened here. The DCP will investigate the stand of the police and Shiv Sena leaders in this regard and then action will be taken, everything will be investigated."
