New Delhi: Quick-commerce company Blinkit has stopped using the “10-minute delivery” claim across all its brand platforms following the intervention of Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. The Minister held talks with top-level officials from Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy and Zomato, advising them to do away with strict delivery time limits in the interest of delivery workers’ safety.

All the companies assured the Centre that they would remove delivery-time commitments from their brand advertisements and social media platforms.

The issue of gig workers’ safety was also raised during Parliament’s Winter Session, with AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha arguing that 10-minute deadlines push workers to take risks on the road to meet unrealistic targets. He urged the House to look beyond convenience and consider the human cost of ultra-fast deliveries.

On Monday, the AAP leader shared a video of himself dressed as a Blinkit delivery agent and delivering orders, drawing attention to the daily grind of gig workers and renewing his call for better working conditions in India’s fast-growing quick-commerce sector.
