BJP national executive meet: PM Modi, Amit Shah laud efforts of party workers in West Bengal

Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday during the closing speech of the BJP’s national executive meeting said that despite ‘atrocities’ and ‘violence’ BJP cadres in Bengal are fighting back.

Addressing the media, BJP Lok Sabha MP Ravi Shankar Prasad quoting the Prime Minister said that during the closing ceremony the Prime Minister spoke about the violence in Bengal.

“The Prime Minister lauded efforts of the BJP workers of Bengal in his closing speech and mentioned that despite violence in Bengal, the BJP cadres are still fighting to establish the party,” said Prasad.

Earlier this day, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma quoting Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that without naming any party Shah had slammed ‘family politics’ in Bengal.

“Not just of Bengal, Shah had slammed the governments of Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Odisha and other non-BJP ruled states and stated that BJP will soon form the state government in those states,” stated Biswa Sarma.

Slamming BJP’s comment, TMC spokesperson and state general secretary Kunal Ghosh claimed that there is ‘family politics’ also in BJP.

TMC Lok Sabha MP Saugata Roy said that BJP should be ‘ashamed’ that despite several attempts the saffron camp ‘failed’ to defeat Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee 'three times'.

Taking to Twitter, BJP nation general secretary (organization) BL Santhosh said, “The politics of intolerance practiced by some parties & ideologies in states like Telangana, West Bengal , Kerala is being contested with all resolve by ordinary workers of @BJP4India maintaining dignity & adhering to democratic values.”

On the first day of the national executive committee meeting, Union Minister Smriti Irani also slammed states having opposition party’s government for alleged violence on BJP cadres.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari also mentioned that he had mentioned about how the central government’s schemes are being changed by the Bengal government.
