Lucknow: One of the biggest faction of Muslims in India, the Barelvi sect has issued fatwa against the killers of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur. The clerics of the Barelvi sect have also condemned those giving murder threats to controversial spokesperson of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) Nupur Sharma, who had made derogatory remarks on the Prophet in a TV debate. This is the first time any Islamic organization has issued fatwa on this matter. Earlier the Deoband, another prime sect of Muslims had condemned the Udaipur killing seeking strict punishment for the killers.

On Thursday, the fatwa against Udaipur killers was issued from the chair of Dargah Aala Hazrat in which it has been said that Islam does not permit killing of any person. Noted cleric from this sect, Maulana Shahab Uddin Razvi said that fatwa has been issued against those issuing murder threat to Nupur Sharma as such things are not permitted in Islam. He said that slogans calling people to behead those insulting the Prophet is not permissible as per Islamic laws. Maulana said that such slogans were first given by an extremist Islamic organization of Pakistan and it has no place in a country like India.
He said that in a democratic country like India only the law of the land would prevail. Maulana said that Muslims should not break law and instead approach the government in case anyone is committing crime.
