Akasa Air Receives 27th Aircraft; Set To Expand Fleet With 199 More Deliveries Over Next 7 Years
Akasa Air received the delivery of the 27th aircraft in its fleet. Bearing registration number VT-YBD, the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft completed its delivery journey from USA’s Seattle to Iceland’s Keflavik in the first leg and concluded with the final leg from Larnaca in Cyprus, to Bengaluru.

Mumbai: One of India’s youngest airlines, Akasa Air, received delivery of its 27th aircraft to continue its expansion trajectory. The airline is on track to receive 199 aircraft in the next seven years.
On Wednesday, Akasa Air received the delivery of the 27th aircraft in its fleet. Bearing registration number VT-YBD, the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft completed its delivery journey from USA’s Seattle to Iceland’s Keflavik in the first leg and concluded with the final leg from Larnaca in Cyprus, to Bengaluru. The aircraft arrived at Kempegowda International Airport on Wednesday.

In 2021, Akasa Air placed its initial order of 72 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which was followed by an order of four Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in June 2023. In January 2024, the airline placed another landmark order of 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, becoming the first Indian airline to reach an order book of 226 aircraft within 17 months of commencing operations.

The 737 MAX family provides greater range and fuel efficiency, reducing fuel use and carbon emissions by 20% compared to those it replaces. In addition, the 737 MAX is a quieter airplane with a 40% smaller noise footprint than replacement airplanes.
