Margao: As erosion of the Colva beach continues, ornamental lamps and gazebos installed at the children’s park, which was developed under the Colva beautification project, is facing a threat of being washed away into the waters.

With the Colva creek water changing its course this year, with the water flowing close to the children’s park, two gazebos and an ornamental lamp are facing the danger of being washed away.

In fact, a visit to the beach on Saturday revealed that the soil erosion has come very close to the two gazebos and the ornamental lamp post.

Locals, however, pointed out that no official was around the place to take a look at the danger posing to the beautified items and take precautionary measures.

“If the heavy rains continue overnight, and the soil continues to erode, the two gazebos may be washed away into the water,” a local pointed out, while demanding to know why the authorities have not still made their presence felt and lift away the items to a safe place.

The local added, “All these beautified items have been installed at the beach at the taxpayers’ money. Hope the authorities will act and lift the items to a safer place.”
