Urfi Javed reveals she was once beaten unconscious by father: 'Was called porn star, tried committing suicide'

Actress and social media sensation Urfi Javed is currently one of the most trending names in showbiz, courtesy, her bold and bizarre sartorial choices and her out-of-the-box fashion sense.

While the actress today carries a no-nonsense attitude and is seen giving befitting replies to trolls, life was not always a cakewalk for her.

During a recent chat with Humans of Bombay, Urfi recalled having an abusive childhood and the time when she even tried to end her life.

When Urfi Javed's father beat her unconscious

During the interaction, Urfi revealed that growing up, she was physically and mentally abused by her father and that she never understood why she was stopped from dressing up in a certain way.

"Growing up in Lucknow, I did not understand why I was stopped from dressing a certain way. I was mentally and physically abused; I even tried comitting suicide," she shared.

She revealed that her picture, in which she was wearing a tube top, was shared on porn websites when she was just 15 and everyone, including her father, called her a "porn star". She also said that her father once hit her so much that she fell unconscious.

"I couldn't say anything because they were beating me up at home. I was so confused that 'I am the victim here, why are you hitting me?'" she said.

'Ran away from home when I was 17'

Urfi shared that she finally decided to not endure the torture anymore and ran away from home to Delhi at the age of 17.

She mentioned that she began taking tuitions at first to support herself and later joined a call centre.

She then decided to shift base to Mumbai, but since she had no money or place to live, she stayed at her friends' houses in the city.

"I did odd jobs, giving interviews and even gave auditions. After a brief period of struggle, I cracked a TV Serial, and then tried my destiny in Bigg Boss OTT," she shared.

Urfi on being trolled for her fashion

Urfi said that she was evicted from 'Bigg Boss OTT' within a week and she had no job in hand. And hence, she decided to work with something she understood best -- clothes.

"It didn’t sit well with the people. The world trolled me and called my choices rubbish and weird. I was questioned about my morality and character. But not caring about faceless people’s opinions on the Internet, I kept embracing myself and expressed self-acceptance through my choice," she stated.
