Maharashtra’s Own Glamor Contest Finds Hidden Talent

For the last several years, a beauty and glamor contest has dug up talent from the smallest corners of the State of Maharashtra. Shravan Queen, a unique beauty pageant, has so far attracted hundreds of young women to showcase their talent and get noticed by Marathi Cinema’s biggest producers and directors.

For the past many years, The Maharashtra Times has held the MaTa Shravan Queen contest at the Balgandharva Rangmandir in Bandra West. The auditorium glitters with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems between the months of August and September every year to host the coveted contest.

For such a large event like MaTa Shravan Queen, the Balgandharva Rangmandir sets the stage each year with its multifacility auditorium—the Sheila Gopal Raheja auditorium. With a capacity of more than 500 seats, the auditorium is equipped with a spacious stage for smooth performances and large-scale production design. Contestants get the expanse and space they need to feel free and confident to perform, aided by a technical team that oversees the audio and lights.

Balgandharwa Rangmadir becomes an ideal location for an event like this since it is equipped with training rooms and dance rooms for rehearsals. An additional Green room facility helps more participants to get ready simultaneously during the show. The VIP lounge of the venue also helps the organizers to entertain the celebrity guests and judges and the exhibition hall provides banquet facilities for the invited guests and media.
