Kajal Pisal Denies Replacing Disha Vakani In TMKOC After Old Photos As Dayaben Go Viral: 'I Auditioned In 2022 But...'
Television actress Kajal Pisal was rumoured to replace Disha Vakani as Dayaben in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah after Vakani went on maternity leave in 2017. However, Kajal denied the speculation, stating the viral photos are old. She confirmed auditioning in 2022 but called the recent reports "totally fake news," as she is currently working on the show Jhanak.

Television actress Kajal Pisal was reportedly set to play the role of Dayaben in the hit television serial Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah after Disha Vakani, who originally portrayed the iconic character, went on maternity leave in 2017 and never returned. Producer Asit Modi recently confirmed that Disha would not be making a comeback and revealed that they have finally selected someone for the role after conducting auditions.
The rumours of Kajal replacing Disha Vakani as Dayaben started circulating after her photos went viral on social media. Reacting to the speculation, the actress clarified that the news is untrue and the viral photos are old. Further, she told Zoom that she has been receiving several calls and messages regarding the speculation, but there is no truth to it.
"I am already working on Jhanak, so this is entirely incorrect. Yes, I did audition for Daya Ben in 2022, and those pictures are resurfacing now. But as of now, I can confirm that this is totally fake news," concluded Kajal.
Earlier in 2022, Pisal shared a photo dressed as Dayaben on her Instagram, revealing that she had gone for a look test but never received any response from the makers.
She wrote in caption, "In no way it has affected my career. Just that I felt playing Daya will be my biggest opportunity but everything is about DESTINY. I'm an artist and will continue to give my best to upcoming projects."
She added, "As the media twists a lot of things with no accurate information like they are doing now with my statement... Maybe they had done the same with Asit Modi Sir's statement on me. That he said, 'Who Kajal Pisal is?' yes it's true that we don’t know each other either personally or professionally. Maybe Daya was a chance for me but certainly missed it … With due respect, I still look forward to work with you in the near future."
