Actor and social media star, Bhuvan Bam, is all set to make his OTT debut with the show 'Taaza Khabar', a comedy-drama series that will take viewers on a riveting new ride of a man stumbling upon magical powers and the ripples it creates in his life.

In an exclusive conversation with The Free Press Journal, Bhuvan opened up on his upcoming show, his shift from Youtube to OTT, future prospects, and more.

Spilling the beans on his character in 'Taaza Khabar', Bhuvan shares, "In 'Taaza Khabar', I am playing a role that anyone with dreams and aspirations can definitely relate with. It is a story of an ordinary man who is put into extraordinary situations and bestowed with miraculous powers to deal with not-so-common situations. It is the tale of you and me, yearning to lead a better life — something which connects all of us."

While Bhuvan has already proven his mettle when it comes to comedy, his potential in more serious and dramatic genres still remains untapped. "Most of what people have seen of me has been in the space of comedy, so it is natural to assume that whatever format I'll be picking, humour will be at the forefront. But, I am currently exploring all avenues and genres. There are already developments in place which will give my fans a chance to see me beyond comedy," he reveals.

Bhuvan is the first Indian digital content creator to launch his independent web series, 'Dhindora', on Youtube. It became an instant hit, so much so that it is now being renewed for a second season. The star, however, feels that creating content on Youtube and OTT is quite different. "To create an OTT show, there are many people and requirements behind the curtain. In contrast, YouTube content can be curated with the help of a small team. The scale is different. Having said that, both platforms cater to modern-day audiences' entertainment needs, and I am glad to be able to connect with my people on both platforms," he avers.

The 28-year-old hopes that his shift from free content on Youtube to paid content on OTT be a successful one. "Somewhere in my heart, there's a voice telling me to be more confident of the love and support I have received from my viewers for so many years. I believe if we continue to make excellent and entertaining content, viewers will obviously appreciate that. So the idea is to keep giving them good content," he asserts.

Bhuvan's journey from making vines on his mobile phone to Youtube and now to OTT has not been a cakewalk. Giving an insight into the challenges he had to face, he shares, "Challenges and setbacks are the factors that truly define a productive journey. They motivate you to go further, to achieve another feat. My journey has been filled with various obstacles that sometimes almost made it impossible to take another step. But life is all about learning and moving forward. The experience, good and bad, can be applied to do things better. In a way, I believe those hurdles made me what I am today."

Besides acting and content creation, Bhuvan has now also been made the face of The Man Company's perfume range. "The products and the concept behind each one of them are in tandem with me as a creator and individual. It allows me to show my viewers a different and unique side. Being part of a campaign that creatively packs a powerful message is a great experience," he says.

On a parting note, Bhuvan sheds light on his future plans. "My plans revolve around my viewers. The idea is to keep entertaining them through all possible formats and mediums. I look forward to being part of more acting projects in the future," he concludes.
