While Vishnu Manchu plays the lead in the film, Akshay will be seen essaying the role of Lord Shiva in Kannappa. The film also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Prabhas, Mohanlal and others in key roles.
Maa, on the other hand, is a mythological horror drama, highlighting the lengths to which a mother can go to save her daughter from the clutches of some dark other-worldly forces.
