University Hostel Viral Video: A viral video purportedly depicting students indulging in parties with drugs, marijuana, and alcohol at the Gautam Buddha University (GBU) hostel has left people outraged on social media, demanding severe action.
The video displays students openly intoxicated, partying within what seems to be the hostel grounds of the university. According to the Top Story report, students Abhay Dubey and Tanay Bhaskar are among those who are being accused of providing illegal drugs to others on campus. The incident has generated very serious questions regarding student safety, hostel security, and the university administration's role.
After the circulation of the video, several demands have been raised to open an investigation into the participation of hostel authorities and security in the matter. Several are asking how such activities went undetected on the university campus.
Police's response on the matter
The Ecotech-1 Police Station under whose control the university operates acknowledged that the video is likely from the GBU hostel. The video is old, however, and from the 2019-20 academic session.
“When the above was investigated, the video was found to be from the hostel of the university campus, which is from the year 2019-20. The students who are being talked about have passed out in 2024. Further action is underway by the Ecotech-1 police station in coordination with the university management.,” Police Commissionerate Gautam Buddh Nagar tweeted on X.
