K J Somaiya Institute of Management (KJSIM), has hosted its annual multi-disciplinary conference- Samavaya 2025. The three-day event, which took place at the Vidyavihar campus in Mumbai, has as its theme "Purpose-driven Leadership: Disruptions and Sustainability Imperatives." Academics and business experts from all over the world came together for the conference to share ideas, form relationships, and investigate cutting-edge methods of sustainability and leadership.
The keynote speech by Dr. Binish Desai, the founder of Reeartham and a well-known social activist and environmentalist who is dubbed the "Recycle Man of India," was a significant highlight. Dr. Desai inspired audiences with his sustainable answers to global problems as he presented his experience turning industrial trash into environmentally beneficial items. Dr. Justin Paul, Dean SBM & Provost-Management Education at NMIMS, was also honoured as the conference's guest of honour.
Dr. Raman Ramachandran, dean and director of the K J Somaiya Institute of Management, reflected on the conference's theme by saying, "Profit with purpose is increasingly recognised as the only sustainable way to address the world's pressing challenges, even though profitability is still essential for businesses." Governments and non-profit organisations cannot solve problems like social injustice, access to cheap healthcare, and environmental deterioration alone. To responsibly address these issues, businesses must innovate. Our goal with Samavaya 2025 was to demonstrate how purpose-driven leadership can meet these demands for sustainability and disruption.
