Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who chaired a high-level review meeting of the Basic Education Department here on Monday, issued several crucial directives aimed at enhancing the quality of primary education in the state.

The discussion focused on ensuring 100 per cent attendance in schools, optimal use of available resources, and strengthening school infrastructure, according to an official statement.

The chief minister instructed the school management committees, which include principals and village heads, to take full responsibility in ensuring that no child between the ages of 6 and 14 years are left out of the education system.

He called for effective implementation of the School Chalo Abhiyan to ensure that every child is enrolled in school and attends it regularly.

He also directed that a financial assistance of Rs 1,200 to purchase uniforms, shoes, socks, stationery and study materials be transferred directly to the bank accounts of parents of the students enrolled in council schools without delay.

Addressing the issue of inadequate infrastructure in some schools, Adityanath instructed officials to ensure immediate provisioning of necessary resources so that students can study in a clean, safe and conducive environment.

The chief minister also underscored the need to implement the school pairing system with a long-term, inclusive vision, highlighting its benefits for students, teachers and parents through better resource utilisation and improved quality of education.

He directed that schools with more than 50 students should function as independent institutions to strengthen administrative efficiency and accountability, and that Bal Vatikas (pre-primary schools) and anganwadi centres be started in school buildings that fall vacant due to the pairing system.

Stressing the need to maintain an ideal student-teacher ratio, Adityanath called for urgent recruitment to fill vacant teaching posts, the statement said.
