CLAT 2025 First Admission List Delayed Following Delhi High Court Order

The release of the first admission list for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 has been delayed after the Delhi High Court directed the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) to revisit the merit list, originally published on December 7, 2024. The court’s order follows the identification of errors in Set A of the undergraduate (UG) question paper.

Justice Jyoti Singh noted discrepancies in questions 14 and 100, which prompted the petitioner, Aditya Singh, to challenge the accuracy of the answer key. The court ruled that option ‘C’ for question 14 was correct, instructing that full marks be awarded to candidates who selected it. Additionally, question 100 was declared invalid.

In response to the High Court’s decision, the Consortium announced a delay in the release of the admission list, which was originally slated for December 26, 2024. A statement from the Consortium reads, “We acknowledge that this development may create some uncertainty, and we assure you that the Consortium is committed to ensuring transparency and fairness in the process. Significant updates will be shared through our official channels.”

The petitioner argued that the errors in the answer key had unfairly affected his score, hampering his chances of admission to premier law institutes.Justice Singh agreed with this line of argument, making fairness a crucial aspect in this process of admission.

It is a delay which introduced uncertainty for aspirants, as they are still awaiting the admission list. The Consortium has assured all its stakeholders that they are consulting senior legal experts to find a solution and resolve this issue immediately.
