11-Year-Old Girl Dies After Eeco Car Hits Her While Returning Home From School In Karjat

Navi Mumbai: An 11-year-old girl died after being knocked down by an Eeco car on the Bhoirwadi-Kundalaj road in Karjat taluka on Monday afternoon. The accident occurred when the girl was on her way home from school.

The deceased has been identified as Arya Anil Thombre, a resident of Kundalaj. According to the police, Arya was walking home from school when an Eeco car, allegedly travelling at high speed, knocked her down near the Ganesh temple on the Bhoirwadi-Kundalaj road around 12.30 pm.

Arya sustained multiple injuries in the accident and died from her injuries. Her father, Anil Thombre, subsequently lodged a complaint with the Karjat police.

Father files complaint as Karjat police register case against Eeco driver

The police have registered a case against the Eeco driver, Alkesh Bhagwan Karnak, a resident of Bhalivadi in Karjat, under Sections 106(1), 281, 125(a) and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

“We have registered a case against the driver and are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal accident. The vehicle and accident spot are being examined, and further action will be taken based on the investigation,” said a police officer from Karjat police station.

Police Inspector Umesh Patil visited the accident spot, while Police Constable Rajendra Dusane is investigating the case. The accused has not been arrested so far, police said.
