Mumbai: Global stock markets have surged following softer tariff signals from U.S. President Donald Trump. This wave of positivity has not only benefited companies but also reignited the fortunes of many billionaires around the world.
Amid this market optimism, one Indian business magnate stands out distinctly—Sunil Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Airtel. His sharp rise in wealth this year has outpaced traditional top contenders Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani.
Sunil Mittal Tops 2025 Billionaire Gainers List
Sunil Mittal has emerged as the biggest gainer among Indian billionaires in 2025. His wealth grew by a staggering USD 4.30 billion, bringing his total net worth to USD 20.6 billion. This surge puts him ahead of Ambani and Adani in terms of year-on-year asset growth.
Mittal’s success is attributed to Airtel’s strong performance and strategic moves in both telecom and digital sectors, riding on increasing data consumption and expanding market share.
Ambani and Adani Begin Recovery
While Sunil Mittal soared, India’s two most talked-about tycoons, Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, initially found themselves on the losing end of the 2025 wealth race. However, recent gains have helped them claw their way back toward recovery.
Gautam Adani, now ranked the 20th richest person globally, saw his assets increase by USD 900 million, reaching USD 79.6 billion.
Mukesh Ambani, holding the 16th spot on the global rich list, experienced a USD 3.54 billion increase in his wealth, bringing his total to USD 94.1 billion.
Their resurgence comes amid positive investor sentiment and strategic business recalibrations in energy and infrastructure.
