'Productivity Dips After 8 Hours': Adar Poonawalla Voices Opinion Over Narayan Murthy's 70-Hour Work Week Suggestion
'I used to get to the office at 6:20 am and leave at 8:30 pm,' he said, recalling the time he spent at his office during his years of building Infosys. I've been doing it for about 40 years. It's a fact. Therefore, no one can claim that's incorrect.

Co-founder of Infosys Narayana Murthy clarified his remarks on Monday regarding the 70-hour workweek, stating that no one can impose it on others.
Speaking at IMC's Kilachand Memorial Lecture last year, Narayana Murthy clarified her suggestions that young Indians should work 70 hours a week, which sparked a heated debate on social media.
According to the co-founder of Infosys, 'no one can say you should do this, you should not do it.'
'I used to get to the office at 6:20 am and leave at 8:30 pm,' he said, recalling the time he spent at his office during his years of building Infosys. I've been doing it for about 40 years. It's a fact. Therefore, no one can claim that's incorrect.
These decisions are personal and not really subject to public discussion, he said. 'Debating and discussing these matters is not appropriate. One can reflect on these issues, absorb information about them, draw conclusions, and take any action they choose,' Murthy said.
Top mangement from Bajaj and L&T
His explanation of the lengthy workdays that have been the subject of national discussion follows outrage caused by remarks made by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Chairman SN Subrahmanyan in favor of a 90-hour workweek.
'Let it start from the top, and if [it works] as a Proof of Concept, then implement it further down,' stated Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto. 'Archaic and regressive' is how he described the practice of measuring work hours.
Sridhar Vembu on 70 hour work week
In spite of criticism, Murthy has repeatedly reiterated his position both directly and indirectly and contrasted China's situation with India's.
The issue has been discussed by many, with some people expressing support and others opposing it. Recently, Sridhar Vembu of Zoho, a company that provides computing and technological solutions, took to X to share his opinions.
