FM Nirmala Sitharaman Meets EU Finance Commissioner As Europe Looks Away From US
Europe is under pressure from other corners of the world as the US turns more volatile. These corners include China and India.

The uncertainty brought to the fore by the US administration under President Donald Trump has exposed fissures in the larger Western Bloc or Western alliance, which is a congregation of North American and European nations. This has made Europe question its alliance and reliability with the US for economic and security reasons.

As a result of this, Europe according to observers may be pushed towards the policy that US itself took at a one stage, "Look East".

As uncertainty brews, moves are being made to strike the right deal, before its too late.
FM Meets With EU Rep
The Indian FM recently met with her EU counterpart, European Commissioner of Financial Services, Savings and Investments Union, Maria Luis Albuquerque. She also met Piotr Serafin, European Commissioner of Budget, Anti-fraud and Public Administration.
In the meeting, both sides acknowledged the strength of the partnership and significance of the meeting represented by the EU College of Commissioners visiting India as their first destination outside Europe after assuming office in December 2024.
In addition, both sides also reaffirmed historic ties and explored areas for deeper collaboration.
Not just that, the FM also made respresenatives of Airbus, one of the two biggest aircraft maker apart from US giant Boeing.
This comes at crucial time, as Boeing has been going through a period chaos, given its myriad controversies and litigation. The company may look to US administration under Trump for assiastance, which could impact Airbus, that looks to reinfornce its position.
The FM also met with Executive Director World Bank for India, Param Iyer as well.
