New Delhi: Getting a confirmed train ticket during holidays or festivals is tough. Most passengers book too late and only get waitlisted tickets. To solve this, MakeMyTrip has launched a new feature called Seat Availability Forecast.
What Is Seat Availability Forecast?
This feature tells you when a train might get fully booked. It helps users plan better by showing which dates have higher chances of confirmed seats. The feature is available on both the MakeMyTrip app and website.

Why Is This Feature Important?
According to MakeMyTrip:
- Around 70 per cent of users end up booking waitlisted tickets because they book too late.
- Booking demand changes every week.
- In April, most high-speed trains got full 13 days in advance.
- In May, the same trains filled up 20 days ahead due to high demand.
So, it’s hard for users to guess how early they need to book. This tool solves that problem.
Where Can You Find This Feature?
Seat Availability Forecast is built right into the train booking flow on MakeMyTrip. While checking train tickets, users will see a forecast of how long seats are likely to remain available. This is powered by data science and easy to use.
What MakeMyTrip Says
Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, said that this feature is designed by understanding the real needs of Indian train travelers. It makes planning easier and smarter for passengers.
