VIDEO: NSUI Workers Reach Jabalpur's Rani Durgavati University Campus With A Donkey, Demand Removal Of Vice Chancellor Rajesh Kumar Verma

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Hundreds of NSUI (National Students' Union of India) students reached the campus of Jabalpur's Rani Durgavati University with a donkey on Tuesday, demanding the removal of Vice Chancellor Rajesh Kumar Verma. They alleged irregularities in the appointment process of the vice chancellor.

Labelling Rajesh Kumar Verma as ineligible for the post, the students said that he has violated the UGC norms and does not even qualify to be a professor.

NSUI calls appointment a violation of UGC norm

"In order to become a professor, the UGC norms make it mandatory to hold a 10-year experience after a PhD. However, Verma completed his PhD in 2018, and within a few months he applied for the professor's post," said Sachin Rajak, NSUI District President.

The NSUI students said that if the vice chancellor does not resign within a week, they will take to the streets and stage a fierce agitation.

"We will continue the fight against this illegal appointment. This is an attempt to degrade the level of students and education," the protestors said unanimously.

A large number of police forces were deployed outside the university to control the protesters.

At the same time, university professor Rakesh Prasad Bajpai said that their demands were taken seriously and the higher authorities were informed.
