Bhind (Madhya Pradesh): Two children died of a snake-bite in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind on the eve on Naag Panchami on Monday night . The unfortunate incident happened, when the toddler siblings, aged around 4 and 2, were sleeping besides their mother.
According to reports, the incident unfolded in village Nakara of Lahar area of the district where two kids identified as Jitendra (4) and Prashant (2) were deep asleep with their mother, Sadhna on a bed inside their home.

According to Sadhna, at around 10pm she suddenly woke up by the cries of her elder son. To her horror she saw, a snake coiled up around her elder son's arm and with its teeth sunk into the little kid's finger.
In panic, the mother tried to drive the snake away. While escaping the reptile jumped off the bed and slithered towards the younger kid and bit him on his legs.
Sadhna alarmed her husband and the family immediately rushed the children to Raun Civil Hospital in a private vehicle. However, by the time they reached the hospital it was too late. The doctors declared both children dead upon arrival.
The tragic incident triggered a sense of mourn in the village. Both the children were cremated on Tuesday morning amidst sorrow and grief in the family.
The villagers have demanded fogging and anti-snake measures in the area. They allege that with the onset of monsoon, snake sightings and snakebite incidents have increased sharply, putting lives, especially of children at constant risk.
