Should I Keep My Dogs On The Road? Sheopur Tehsildar Questions 'Pet Ban In Govt Housing,' Calls It Harassment |
Sheopur (Madhya Pradesh): A tehsildar in Sheopur, Amita Singh Tomar, has submitted a formal objection after not being allowed to keep pets in a government-allotted house.
The condition, mentioned in the allotment order issued by the Collectorate on July 15, states that if she is found keeping animals, the house will be vacated.
Tomar has termed the condition as harassment and raised the matter with the district collector.

Tomar was posted as in-charge Superintendent of Land Records. She was allotted a G type one room accommodation in the Collectorate Colony which is meant for officials.
She argued that she was entitled to F or E type housing, which were larger and more suited for her rank.
She also owned two pet dogs and questioned the reasons behind the ban asking, “Should I keep my dogs on the road?”
She called the order a blow to her dignity and alleged it reflects a targeted pattern of mistreatment. Earlier, she was removed from the post of Tehsildar and reassigned without clear justification. In August 2023, she resigned after being left without any posting for weeks. She was later posted in Veerpur but removed again after controversy.
Tomar has previously made headlines for controversial social media posts on Eid and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi. She now claims that administrative actions are being used as tools to harass her.
