PIL In Court Over Invalidation Of BSc Biotechnology Degree In Bhopal
A petition against the rejection has been filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court by Deepak Chaudhary, whose selection was cancelled due to this decision.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Department of Public Instruction has invalidated the BSc Biotechnology degree for the Higher Secondary Teacher Recruitment 2023, sparking a legal challenge.
A petition against the rejection has been filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court by Deepak Chaudhary, whose selection was cancelled due to this decision.
The matter was heard by Justice Sanjay Dwivedi, who directed the DPI to file a reply within two weeks. The next hearing has been scheduled for January 13.
Advocate Dheeraj Tiwari, representing the petitioner, argued that according to the recruitment rule book, biotechnology is listed as an allied subject.
The notification for the recruitment also mandates candidates to have studied the prescribed subject as a major at the graduation level. Despite meeting these criteria and providing a university certificate recognizing BSc Biotechnology, Deepak’s degree was rejected by the DPI.
The DPI claimed that BSc Biotechnology does not meet the definition of a prescribed main subject. Advocate Tiwari further emphasized that MSc Biotechnology is categorized as an allied subject, and rejecting BSc Biotechnology, which includes Botany, violates the recruitment rules.
