Newly Built ₹4-Crore Bridge Sinks Just 10 Days After Completion In MP's Sidhi; Congress Alleges Corruption, Probe Ordered

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A newly constructed bridge has been damaged in Baghwar village of Rampur Naikin area in Sidhi district.

The Bansagar canal bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 4 crore. This bridge was completed just 10 days ago. Around 9 am on Sunday, a 7 feet deep pit was formed in the middle of the bridge.

Cracks have also appeared on the sides of the bridge. This bridge is located on National Highway-39 connecting Rewa, Satna, Sidhi and Shahdol. At the time of the incident, some school children and bike riders were about to cross the bridge.

The incident created an atmosphere of chaos in the area. There was a long queue of vehicles on both sides of the road.

MP Congress raised questions

MP Congress shared a video of bridge on social media platform ‘X’. Congress wrote “The bridge of corruption collapsed in a month. The bridge built on the canal in Baghwar of Sidhi district collapsed in just a month of the commencement of traffic”

Congress also slammed MP government over corruption, the post says “Corruption in the Mohan government is now clearly visible in the debris of roads and bridges. Every falling structure is a testimony to the falling credibility of the government”.

Bridge built in haste

According to local resident Ramadhar Yadav, the bridge was constructed in a very hurry. He has raised questions on the quality of bridge construction. He says that if this incident had happened during school hours, the lives of the children could have been in danger.

 SDM said - will conduct a high level investigation

SDM Shailesh Dwivedi reached the spot and took stock of the situation. He directed the contractor and departmental officials to start the repair work immediately. A high-level inquiry will be conducted into the bridge getting damaged so soon.
