Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A primary school teacher in Sidhi has been accused of repeatedly reporting to school in an inebriated state and consuming alcohol on the school premises. A video purportedly showing the teacher drinking alcohol inside the classroom had recently surfaced on social media.

The teacher, Dinesh Kol, posted at a primary school in Dihuli No 4 village under Sihawal Janpad Panchayat, has also been accused of carrying a liquor bottle in his pocket and drinking in front of students.

On several occasions, he allegedly fell on children or vomited inside the classroom.

The school, which had around 200 students two years ago, now has only 28, with parents reportedly citing the teacher's alleged conduct as a major reason. According to the school's attendance register, Kol attended the school on only 13 days over four months.

Despite this, he allegedly continued to receive his full monthly salary of Rs 52,800, with the cluster reportedly sending 100% attendance to the department.

When contacted, district education officer Pawan Kumar Singh said an investigation would be conducted against the teacher and those responsible for allegedly recording and forwarding his false attendance.
