MP: Itarsi Electric Loco Shed Saves ₹13.22 Lakh Through Innovative In-House Repairs On A Faulty Motherboard

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Electric Loco Shed, Itarsi under West Central Railway, Bhopal Division, took an innovative initiative and not only utilized the resources of the railway efficiently, but also ensured significant economic savings.

This innovative effort has resulted in a significant saving of Rs 13,22,675/- for Railways. In the market, the price of a motherboard of AAL make is Rs 18,685 and that of Laxven make is Rs29,500. The team has contributed significantly to the economy of the Railways with its efficient management, technical proficiency and proper use of resources.

According to Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (Traction Rolling Stock), Itarsi Shed,  Neeraj Kumar Sharma, Electric Loco Shed, Itarsi currently maintains 269 three-phase electric locomotives, and the speedometer installed in each locomotive helps the crew in safe operation by showing the current speed of the train.

During the year 2024-25, the pins of the motherboard of a total of 65 speedometers (55 AAL make and 10 Laxven make) were damaged due to incorrect installation of memory cards. Instead of purchasing new cards from the market, the experienced technical team of the shed took the  decision of in-house repair.
