MP December 31 Weather Updates: Cold Wave To Dominate January; Visibility Reduces To 20 Meters In Gwalior-Chambal & Ujjain

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The state continued to witness extreme cold on the last day of December. The fog affected many districts of Gwalior-Chambal, Ujjain, Sagar and Rewa divisions and visibility reached to 20 meters on Tuesday morning.

According to the meteorological department, the entire state experienced rain and cloudy weather for two days due to the activity of Western Disturbance. Hail also fell in many districts.

As soon as this phase ended, the effect of cold will increase and a significant drop in the day and night temperatures will be seen.

Cold wave in January

The effect of the cold wave will last for 20 to 22 days in January. In the initial phase, the effect will be seen in the districts of Gwalior, Chambal and Ujjain divisions for the first two days. Later, it will extend to the entire state.

December was colder

The cold has broken records this year in many cities including the state capital Bhopal. The state of December was much colder in comparison to January and cold wave continued for 9 days.

Cold broke records in November

A 36-year-old record was broken in Bhopal in November. The temperature in Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur and Gwalior also remained 7 degrees below normal. The cold increase severely even in December.
