Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee has removed Rahul Dangi from the post of president of the Biaora Block Congress Committee and expelled him from the party’s primary membership.
In an order issued on Aug 23, the party said it had received information that Dangi was allegedly involved in 'unethical activities'.
The Congress said it strongly opposed such conduct and that such a mindset had no place in the party.
Acting on the directions of Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari, the party removed Dangi from his post with immediate effect and expelled him from its primary membership.
The order was issued by MP Congress organisation general secretary Dr Sanjay Kamle. Copies were sent to senior party leaders and office-bearers, including state in-charge Harish Chaudhary and Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar.
Dangi found with women during raid
The action came after Dangi was among three men detained during a police raid at Hotel Raj Palace on Manoharthana Road in Chanchoda, Guna district, on Saturday evening.
Police said the raid was conducted after receiving information about alleged suspicious activities at the hotel.
The three men were found with women inside separate rooms. However, the women’s families declined to lodge complaints, and the women were handed over to their families after questioning.
Police subsequently took preventive action against the three men and the hotel manager for allegedly disturbing the peace. They were produced before a tehsildar and later granted bail.
Dangi denied the allegations, claiming that he was returning after visiting Kamkheda and had stopped at the hotel only for tea. Police are examining CCTV footage and investigating the role of the hotel owner.
