Madhya Pradesh Government Mulling Over Extending Chopper Service To Road Accident Victims | —PTI
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): After the successful rollout of airlifting seriously ill patients, the state government is considering deploying helicopters to rescue accident victims and provide them timely medical care.
A high-powered committee recently held its first meeting to discuss the modalities. If implemented, Madhya Pradesh will once again set a national precedent by being the first to introduce helicopter services for road accident emergencies. Earlier, the State was first to launch an air ambulance service for critically ill patients.

The officials have deliberated upon roping in the Dial 100 to ensure rapid response to accident alerts. Currently, the state health department operates one aircraft and one chopper to transport patients from different parts of the state to major cities like Bhopal for advanced treatment.
A senior health department official stated that the Chief Minister has directed the integration of air ambulance services with emergency helplines Dial 100 and Dial 108. In case of road accidents, the government will take every possible step to save lives, the official said.
Another officer stated that accident victims would first be stabilized at the hospital before being moved to a helipad for airlifting.
