Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Legendary Bollywood actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar passed away on April 4, 2025, at the age of 87. Fondly known as "Bharat Kumar," he breathed his last at 4:03 am at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav mourned the veteran's demise. He said, “It is a huge loss for the film industry and the country. Manoj Kumar tried to connect with India’s roots through his films. He will always be remembered for portraying the lives of martyrs with sincerity.”
The medical reports confirmed the cause of death as cardiogenic shock due to acute myocardial infarction. He had also been suffering from decompensated liver cirrhosis for the past few months. Kumar was admitted to the hospital on February 21 after his health deteriorated.
Born as Harikrishan Goswami on July 24, 1937, in Amritsar, Punjab, Manoj Kumar left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. His roles in Shaheed, Upkar, and Purab Aur Paschim won hearts across the country for their strong patriotic themes.
