Madhya Pradesh: CM Mohan Yadav Approves Two New Wildlife Sanctuaries, Plans For Rhino & Giraffe Introduction In State

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that for conservation of wildlife, two wildlife sanctuaries will be established in Omkareshwar and Jahangarh. He gave approval to both wildlife sanctuaries during the 28th meeting of State Wildlife Board held at Samatava Bhawan at CM House on Thursday. He said that Omkareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary will be developed on 614.0709 square km forest area situated close to Dewas and Khandwa district.

Likewise, Jahangarh Wildlife Sanctuary will be developed on 6.328 square km area in Sheopur district. It was informed that wildlife rescue centre-cum-zoo is proposed in Naulakhi of Ujjain district. The CM took progress report of this project and instructed that work shall be completed in a speedy manner. It was informed to him that similar kind of wildlife rescue centre is proposed in Jabalpur also.

Rhino, giraffe in offing

The CM directed to search the possibilities to bring rhino from Kaziranga National Park of Assam and to bring giraffe from South Africa. He also said to take care of all kind of wild animals whether they are terrestrial, aquatic or birds.

MP home to 12,981 vultures

The CM said in the recent census of vulture, it was found that the state is home to 12,981 vultures. In comparison to previous years, vulture population increased by 19 per cent.
