Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The weather department has issued a heavy rain alert for Harada, Narmadapuram, and Betul districts for Sunday, August 10.
These areas may receive up to 4.5 inches of rain in the next 24 hours. The alert has been issued due to active turf and cyclonic circulation in the region.
Apart from these districts, a yellow alert has also been given for light rain with thunder in all districts of the state.
According to meteorologist Arun Sharma, heavy rain is expected in many districts of Madhya Pradesh over the next five days. From August 13 to 14, the rain activity will become stronger due to a low-pressure area forming in the Bay of Bengal. This will lead to continuous heavy rainfall in the second half of August.
On Saturday, many districts of the state saw rain. In Bhopal, clouds covered the sky in the afternoon, followed by light showers.
From June 1 to July 31, Madhya Pradesh received an average of 28 inches of rain. However, between August 1 and 7, only 0.8 inches of rainfall was recorded.
While nine districts, including Gwalior, have already completed their seasonal rainfall quota, the situation in Indore and Ujjain divisions is still below average.
The eastern parts — Jabalpur, Sagar, Shahdol, and Rewa divisions — have received 37% more rainfall than average, while the western parts — Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Chambal, and Narmadapuram divisions — have received 27% more than average.
