Madhya Pradesh: ₹65L Ripped Off At Police Welfare Centre Petrol Pump

Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): A rip-off worth ₹65 lakh has cropped up in a petrol pump at the Police Welfare Centre on the police road in Chhatarpur district.

The irregularity took place between 2019 and 2022. The rip-off came to light after an audit inquiry, official sources said. The civil line police registered an FIR against five persons, including three government employees.

The then acting deputy inspector, now retired; two policemen; and two employees of the petrol pump were among the guilty. They reportedly forged the records and appropriated the petrol pump’s money.

A probe team set up by the Superintendent of Police and Additional Superintendent of Police brought the rip-off to light. The team submitted a 100-page report highlighting the scam.

The report said the accused forged the documents relating to the stock register, cash deposit, and balance sheet of the petrol pump.

The then acting deputy inspector Rajabhuvan Singh, a resident of Khaddi, Rewa, working as an accountant for the petrol pump, forged the documents.

He made wrong entries in the documents. The constable Bhupat Singh was working as an assistant in the petrol pump in 2018. The constable helped Rajabhuvan Singh hide the irregularity.

Head constable, Prakadh Ahirwar, working as an assistant at the petrol pump in 2019, did not inform the senior officers about the forgery.

The salesmen of the petrol pump, Mahboob Ali and Collector Singh Bundela, are facing the charges of forging documents. The audit also revealed that the petrol pump had incurred a loss of ₹65 lakh.

City Superintendent of Police, Aman Mishra, said that a rip-off worth ₹65 lakh had come to light. A committee set up to probe the case confirmed the scam had taken place.

The civil lines police registered a case against five persons on the basis of the audit team report, Mishra said.
