Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Ganja worth ₹30 lakh was seized from an abandoned car which got stuck in a muddy agricultural field in Shahdol district on intervening night Wednesday and Thursday, police said on Friday.
The drug peddler in the car mistook the ambulance siren to be that of a police vehicle and drove the car into an agriculture field where it got stuck in the mud. The miscreants left the car in the field and fled from the scene.
Police station in-charge Rajkumar Mishra told media that the police received information about an abandoned car in the Kunda Tola area under the jurisdiction of Sidhi police station on Wednesday night. On reaching the scene, the police team found a white car with a Chhattisgarh registration number abandoned on a field, he said.
Police found 294 plastic packets containing a substance, later identified as ganja, the officer said, adding that the seized 301.75 kg contraband was valued at ₹30 lakh.

The local informed them that they heard two sounds, one about the siren and another of rash driving of the car which met the accident. The villagers told police that the car driver and other people in the vehicle panicked hearing the ambulance siren which they might have mistaken it to be a police siren. The driver turned off the road and got stuck in the wet agriculture field. The people in the car left the vehicle behind and fled away.
