Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Three people died and 27 others were injured when a speeding pickup truck fell into a culvert in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district. The accident occurred on Thursday when the passengers were travelling to Barela from Tilwara area in the district.
Prima facie suggests that the steering wheel of the pickup truck failed leading to the truck speeding and skidding into a culvert. Nearby onlookers heard the loud crashing sound and rushed to the spot. They then called up an ambulance and sent the injured for treatment to the Jabalpur Medical College.

According to information, on Thursday, a group of over 30 people, which included children and women, were travelling from Tilwara to Barela for a wedding. The pickup truck carrying them was old but in a working condition. When the vehicle carrying the passengers reached Barela Bridge, the steering wheel of the vehicle failed and the truck fell into the deep culvert.
The accident claimed lives of three people and injured 27 in the process. As soon as the accident occurred, onlookers called up ambulance and the police immediately. The injured were sent to Jabalpur's Medical College for treatement while the deceased's bodies were sent for post mortem. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
