Indore: Renowned Ophthalmologist Dr Anurag Srivastava Dies On Badminton Court |
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Renowned city ophthalmologist Dr Anurag Srivastava died on Monday morning after experiencing difficulty in breathing while playing badminton.
Despite immediate CPR efforts by fellow doctors, he could not be saved, leaving the medical community in shock. With the family’s consent, Dr Srivastava’s eyes are being donated at MY Hospital, honouring his legacy as a healer.
A passionate badminton player, 64-year-old Dr Srivastava followed his routine of playing at Sayaji Club in the morning. After two rounds, however, he sat down around 8 am and appeared exhausted. His close friend, Vikram Gupte, stated that CPR was administered immediately but it had no effect.
Dr Srivastava was rushed to the Medanta Hospital where doctors declared him dead, because of a suspected cardiac arrest. Dr Srivastava is survived by his wife, a dietician, and two sons – the elder one runs a start-up in Sweden and the younger one, Dr Pranjal, is a Captain in the Army who rushed to Indore from Bhopal upon receiving the news. Friend CA Vikram Gupte said Dr Srivastava had no prior history of heart-related issues. He had undergone a spine surgery a few months ago but was otherwise in good health.
Dr’s post a day before
A day before his death from a suspected cardiac arrest, Dr Anurag Srivastava posted on his social media account, “Purane Nahi Jayege Toh Naye Kahan Se Aayege, Ped Kab Tak Peele Patte Sambhalte Jayenge" (If the old don’t leave, how will the new arrive? How long can a tree keep holding onto its yellowing leaves).
