Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 24-year-old newly married woman died by suicide after jumping into a well in rural area of the city on Tuesday morning.
The woman in her suicide note has accused her former boyfriend of sharing her objectionable photos with her in-laws, following which she was rebuked and assaulted and thrown out of the house, said Parwalia Road police said here on Tuesday. The deceased woman has held her in-laws responsible for her death, said police.
According to police, the woman, daughter of a farmer from Sehore district, was married to Bablu Meena of Doraha village in March 2024. In her suicide note, the woman had stated that before her marriage she had told her would be husband about her friendship with Roshan Meena from Chanderi village, under Gunga police station.
After her wedding, Roshan allegedly sent her objectionable pictures to her in-laws.
Police station in-charge Rohit Nagar said that, the note further states that last October, her husband, father-in-law Ramnarayan Meena, mother-in-law Kamlesh, and sister-in-law Ruma allegedly assaulted her, and termed her ‘characterless,’. They threw her out of the house following which she was forced to live with her parents.
When her family tried to reconcile, the in-laws allegedly demanded Rs 5 lakh to take her back. The woman’s father arranged the amount and handed it to her in-laws, but they refused to accept her.
The whole situation became very traumatic as it tarnished the reputation of her family and hers, leaving her unwilling to live, said the TI quoting the deceased’s suicide note. The woman has held her in-laws responsible for her death, said TI Nagar.
TI Nagar further said that the victim’s body was recovered from the well and sent to Hamidia Hospital for post-mortem, Police have registered a case and the further investigation is on.
