Disturbing! Rewa Villagers Carry Body Across Swollen River On Drums; 2nd Such Incident In 2 Months | VIDEO | X

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A disturbing video showing helpless villagers transporting a body on a makeshift raft made of drums amid flooding and the absence of a proper road surfaced on social media.

According to information, the video emerged from Jawa tehsil of Rewa district, where villagers were allegedly forced to transport the body themselves as an ambulance could not reach the area.

The situation became even more distressing as the swollen river forced the villagers to tie two drums together and place the body on them to take it home.

Watch the video here:

In the video, villagers can be seen standing on a flooded road, while the body lies on the makeshift raft.

The villagers can also be heard alleging that they had lodged several complaints, but the sarpanch had paid no attention to them.

They alleged, “Gram Panchayat Sarpanch bolte hain ki hum vidhayak ke aadami hai, aise hi kam chalta rahega. Koi mare ya jiye usse koi matlab nahi hai…(The Gram Panchayat sarpanch says, ‘We are the MLA’s men, and this is how things will continue. We do not care whether anyone lives or dies).

The incident highlights the difficulties faced by people in flood-affected areas, where overflowing rivers and damaged roads have disrupted movement.

Not only the deceased remained deprived of dignity, the incident raised serious concerns regarding even the basic facilities in rural areas and the rights of residents.

Further details about the deceased and the precise location of the incident were not immediately available.

A month ago, on July 4, a similar video surfaced on social media, where villagers reportedly carried an ailing tribal woman to hospital on a cot because there was no proper road or ambulance service. The video showed 4-5 people carrying her along a muddy path.

According to local accounts, she died on the way before reaching the hospital.
