Cyber Fraud: Man Duped Of ₹1 Lakh Under Pretext Of Upgrading Physical SIM To eSIM In Jabalpur; Woman Loses ₹98 k After Liking Telegram Video
According to information, a resident of Jabalpur’s Garha, Naredra Tripathi fell victim to cyber fraud after he got a call from a fraudster posing as an official from a telecom company.

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): In a cyber fraud case reported in Jabalpur, a man was duped of ₹1 lakh under the pretext of converting a physical SIM card into an e-SIM.
According to information, a resident of Jabalpur’s Garha, Naredra Tripathi fell victim to cyber fraud after he got a call from a fraudster posing as an official from a telecom company.
The fraudster claimed that due to the installation of 5G towers, physical SIM cards would stop working. Therefore, the physical SIM (subscriber identity module) card now needs to be converted into eSIMs.
Trusting the caller, Tripathi followed the instructions that were provided to him by the scammer. Shortly after that, ₹1 lakh was deducted from the victim’s bank account.
The victim immediately reported the incident to Garha police, who have registered a case and are investigating the matter. At present, police are trying to trace the fraudster using the IMEI number.

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A woman in Jabalpur lost ₹98 k after liking a video on Telegram, as reported by police on Thursday.
According to the Additional Superintendent of Police Sonali Dubey, a 25-year-old woman from Seoni, currently residing in Jabalpur's Gorakhpur area, fell victim to a scam and lost ₹98,000.
The woman received a message on Telegram with a video which read she would earn rewards for liking it. The scam promised cash prizes ranging from ₹123 to ₹50,000 upon completing three tasks.
Believing the offer, the victim followed the instructions and ended up losing money instead.
The victim has filed a complaint at Gorakhpur police station. Police are investigating the incident and working to identify the fraudsters.
