Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A group of men using a JCB machine damaged the residence of IAS officer Manjusha Rai, Under Secretary in the Education Department and allegedly vandalised her property on Friday.
The group reportedly broke the boundary wall and CCTV cameras amid an ongoing property dispute that is currently under judicial review. IAS Manjusha Rai and the opponent in the case Mona Bateja on Saturday reached Kolar police station and registered complaint in connection with the dispute.
Kolar police station in-charge Sanjay Soni confirmed that both parties have submitted written complaints and said that the case has been forwarded to the revenue department for further investigation, as it involves a property dispute.
Manjusha Rai stated that she and her husband Vikrant Praveen Rai had entered into a purchase agreement for the house in 2010 for ₹41 lakh, making full payment through bank accounts.
Since 2011, the couple has been living in the duplex and even made additional constructions funded by Rai herself. However, due to lack of official mutation (name transfer), registration could not be completed.
However, Saeed Farid Ahmed alias Ridit Arora, son of original owner Ranjana Ahmed, allegedly managed to get the mutation done in March and secretly registered the property in the name of Mona Bateja, in June without informing her.
Though the issue is sub judice and is under investigation by senior administrative officials, the opposite party is using muscle power. Police did not intervene despite being informed about the matter.
