Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A case of dowry harassment has been registered against Kalrav Srivastava, son of a retired IAS officer, for allegedly assaulting his wife and demanding an additional dowry of Rs 30 lakh.
The complaint was filed at the Women’s Police Station by the victim, a resident of Avantika Homes in the Danish Kunj area of Kolar.
According to police, the woman married Srivastava in 2024. While the initial months of the marriage were stable, trouble began after four months when her husband allegedly started pressuring her to bring Rs 30 lakh from her parents.
Despite having fulfilled dowry demands during the wedding, the in-laws allegedly continued to demand more, the woman stated in her complaint.
When she resisted, Srivastava reportedly assaulted her and issued threats to her life. She endured physical and mental abuse for nearly six months before informing her family.
With their support, she approached the police and filed a complaint.
Based on her statement, police have registered an FIR against Srivastava under sections related to dowry harassment and criminal intimidation. Further investigation is underway, police officials said.
