Bhopal: Ministers To Handle Transfers Within Specific Parameters

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The state government has rolled out the much-awaited amended transfer policy on Wednesday, outlining conditions under which transfer of officers and employees can be carried out. Under the revised policy, ministers are now authorised to handle transfers within specific parameters.

While there is ban on transfers, the government has now made amendments, particularly in paragraph 9 of the transfer policy, to allow certain exceptions.

Transfers of government servants in Class I, II, and III can now take place with the approval of the departmental minister. Specific conditions, such as severe health issues like cancer, paralysis, or heart attack, may also justify a transfer.

In the last cabinet meeting, the government had decided to temporarily lift transfer ban, granting ministers the power to authorise transfers in accordance with the new guidelines.

The policy allows transfers of officials involved in serious complaints or gross irregularities. Moreover, transfers may be implemented for those under investigation in criminal cases by the Lokayukta or the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), as long as the investigation remains unaffected. Transfers may also be carried out in the larger public interest.
