Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Wanted by the income tax (I-T) department, a lookout circular has been issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs against ex-RTO constable Saurabh Sharma, officials said here on Wednesday.
The I-T department had seized 52 kilograms of gold bricks and have seized around Rs 10 crore from a SUV in Mandori area of the city on Friday (December 20).
On December 19, Lokayukta police Bhopal had conducted the raid and to hide money and valuables, they were kept in a SUV and were abandoned in Mandori area.
Later I-T officials seized the car and the fact came out that the car belongs to the aide of Saurabh Sharma, Chetan Singh Gaur. Neither, Lokayukta sleuths nor I-T officials know about Saurabh’s whereabouts. Meanwhile, speculations came to the fore in which it was claimed that he is in Mumbai and it was also claimed that he was in Dubai. Finally the I-T officials asked the MHA to issue LOC against Saurabh.
The LOC
In Indian law, the issuance of Look-out Circulars (LOCs) is not explicitly governed by a specific penal section. Instead, it falls under administrative and executive powers of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Bureau of Immigration.
The guidelines for issuing LOC are laid out by the MHA and they are primarily used to prevent individuals from the country to evade legal proceedings.
