Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Leaders from BJP, Congress and other political parties besides independent candidates made last-ditch efforts on Monday to woo voters for the second phase of civic body polls, as election campaign came to an end in the evening.
Addressing a public meeting in Katni chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “It is our resolve to develop cities of Madhya Pradesh including Katni as per the wishes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
He said, “Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a wonderful person. He has a vision for every city… Whatever money is needed for this development work, our government will arrange it.”
He said the PM had given five mantras for the development of cities. Every city should be the face of the development of the state. Life should be easy in them. Better quality of life should be available to every person. The size of the cities should increase but there should be no inequality and even the poorest of the poor in every city should be able to live life with self-respect.
He said, “Our roadmap is ready for the development of cities based on the PM’s mantra. We will make the city beautiful, clean, complete, safe, prosperous and developed.”
Chouhan said work was already going on to make the cities beautiful and clean in the state. “Our cities will be safe, where sisters and daughters can move safely even at midnight. We will not spare the goons and miscreants. It is our endeavour to have auditoriums, well-equipped bus stands, gardens, parks and yoga centres in every city. The poor in the cities will get enough food for Rs 10.
He said that during the Congress government, the then chief minister Kamal Nath used to raise concern over lack of money, but the BJP government had enough fund for development.
The state BJP president VD Sharma said, “I have come to tell the workers of the urban bodies and the general public that Madhya Pradesh was called BIMARU state during the Congress rule but Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made the state a golden state with continuous development.
On the Congress front, while former chief minister Kamal Nath campaigned in Malwa region, his son and lone MP from Congress Nakul Nath campaigned in Chhindwara. Other senior leaders of the party also campaigned in Katni, Ratlam, Dewas, Rewa and Morena.
