Bhopal: Girl Ends Life Over Failed Love, Cops Exhume Body

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Betrayed by her lover, an 18-year-old girl ended her life by consuming poison under Aishbagh police station limit on Friday.

The family buried the body. On learning about the incident, police exhumed the body in presence of administrative officials and sent it for post-mortem on Sunday.

According to reports, the girl was having an affair with local resident Ayaan. The youth raped her on pretext of marriage on several occasions but later backed off from his promise.

A month ago, the girl approached police and lodged a complaint of rape against Ayaan following which police arrested him and sent him to jail.

However, upset over betrayal, the victim consumed poison some days ago. She was admitted to a hospital where she died while undergoing treatment on Friday.

Her kin took the body with them and buried it in a local graveyard. Police received information about the incident and reached the victim’s house.

Police officials said the girl's body was exhumed with consent of her kin. Further investigations will be carried out after receiving post-mortem report, officials added.
