Who Is Timothy Haugh? US NSA Director Reportedly Fired By Donald Trump

Washington DC: United States President Donald Trump on Thursday fired the director of the US National Security Agency, Timothy Haugh, reported the Washington Post citing officials. Hough was reportedly dismissed along with Deputy NSA Wendy Noble. The NSA is part of the US Defence Department.

The report furth claimed that Noble was reassigned to a job within the Pentagon's office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence. The exact reason for Haugh's dismissal is not known as the White House and Pentagon have not made any official statement in this regard.

Who Is Timothy Haugh?

He is a United States Air Force general. Haugh served as the commander of the United States Cyber Command, the NSA director and chief of the Central Security Service from 2024 to 2025. Born in 1969 Haugh is from Hughesville, Pennsylvania. He graduated from high school there in 1987. He was commissioned through AFROTC at Lehigh University.

In May 2023, Haugh was nominated for promotion to general and appointed as commander of the United States Cyber Command, director of the National Security Agency, and chief of the Central Security Service.

After assuming office on January 20 this year, Trump has fired several US officials. In February this year, the US President fired Air Force Gen. CQ Brown as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff sidelining a history-making fighter pilot and respected officer as part of a campaign to rid the military of leaders who support diversity and equity in the ranks.
