A US Air Force C-40B VIP transport aircraft has landed in Pakistan, reportedly carrying US Vice President JD Vance, who is expected to represent the United States in peace talks with Iran in Islamabad. The visit comes as Pakistan prepares to host high-level negotiations aimed at easing tensions after weeks of conflict.
Security has been tightened in the capital city of Islamabad as Pakistan prepares to host high-stakes negotiation talks between the US and Iran on Saturday.
Roads have been blocked using shipping containers, armed patrols have been deployed across key zones, and luxury hotels have quietly evacuated guests ahead of the diplomatic meeting.
Around 10,000 security personnel have been deployed in Islamabad to ensure the safety of visiting delegates, according to a report in Dawn. The report said that a “blue book” protocol would also be extended to the delegates, which refers to top-tier, high-security VIP treatment and arrangements for VVIPs.
Visa on Arrival for Attendees
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that all participants, including journalists from countries involved in the talks, will be issued visas on arrival.
Notably, Iran has denied reports claiming that its negotiating team has travelled to Islamabad for talks with the US, calling the claims “completely false,” according to Tasnim News Agency.
