Abu Dhabi, UAE: Shahzadi, a 33-year-old woman from the Banda district in Uttar Pradesh, is facing the grim prospect of being executed within the next 24 hours in an Abu Dhabi court. Currently held in the notorious Al Wathba prison in Abu Dhabi, Shahzadi has been sentenced to death after she was wrongfully accused and convicted of a crime in Dubai.
In a rare act of compassion, the authorities at the Al Wathba prison allowed Shahzadi the opportunity to make a final phone call to her family, granting her a fleeting moment to connect with her loved ones. During this heart-rending conversation, Shahzadi sought to console her family, acknowledging the painful reality that this would likely be their last interaction.
Shahzadi's Final Call To Her Parents
In her final words, Shahzadi made an emotional appeal, urging her family to withdraw a case that had been filed against her opponents back in Banda, hoping to bring some resolution to the situation she faced. "Papa, this is my last call. Please forgive me, I couldn’t do anything for you," she said on the phone call, as per a report by Munsif Daily.
Who Was Shahzadi?
According to reports, Shahzadi, who hails from Banda, Uttar Pradesh, was lured to Dubai under false pretences. It all began when she came in contact with a man from Agra called Aziz, through Meta (previously Facebook).
Aziz assured her that he could arrange medical treatment for her illness and offer her a job in Dubai which would require her to work for an expatriate couple. However, what seemed like an opportunity for a better life turned into a nightmare.
Instead of receiving the promised help, Shahzadi was tragically sold to a couple in Dubai, where she was forced into a life of gruelling domestic servitude. Over the course of her captivity, she endured not only relentless physical abuse but also severe mental torment.
Parents Make Accusations Of Human Trafficking
Shahzadi’s parents have alleged that she was a victim of human trafficking and was coerced into making a false confession by the Dubai couple and the man from Agra.
They have also filed a legal complaint demanding a judicial inquiry and sent a memorandum to the Indian President and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking her release and safe return. The parents also called for stringent action against those responsible for her exploitation. The case has sparked public outrage, with advocates urging authorities to act quickly.
